This calculator from Weststone Lending in Elyria, Ohio estimates the monthly payment, total interest and total cost of a fixed-rate equipment loan from a price, down payment, annual rate and term. It is built for machine shops and fabricators; results are arithmetic only, not offers, and the page explains what it leaves out.
CNC Machine Loan Calculator: Price, Down Payment, Rate and Term
- Price: the quote total, including tooling and rigging if the partner will finance them.
- Down payment: cash, trade-in value or a documented vendor deposit.
- Annual rate: try a few, since the real rate comes only from a partner's offer.
- Term: the number of monthly payments.
The result is standard loan arithmetic: equal monthly payments that pay off the financed amount with interest by the last payment. Early payments are mostly interest and later ones mostly principal, which is why paying off a loan early saves less than the remaining number of payments suggests.
Total cost adds the down payment back in, so it shows what the machine costs the shop in all, not just what is financed.
CNC Machine Finance Calculator Worked for a Lorain County, OH Job Shop
Lorain County, OH had 108 fabricated metal product manufacturers with employees in 2023, the group that includes machine shops, with 3,461 employees (County Business Patterns 2023). A job shop pricing a machining center can use the calculator to set a payment against the work the machine would bring in.
Illustration only, invented figures: a $245,000 machining center with $24,500 down leaves $220,500 financed. At an invented annual rate of 9% over 84 months, the payment is about $3,548 a month; over 60 months it is about $4,577 (our arithmetic). The shorter term costs more each month and less in total: about $274,633 against $298,002 in payments (our arithmetic).
Business Line of Credit Repayment Calculator: Why a Revolving Line Needs Its Own Math
A revolving line of credit has no fixed schedule: the balance rises and falls with draws and payments, and interest is charged on the balance. This calculator assumes a fixed loan, so it does not fit a line. For a line, multiply the drawn amount by the annual rate and by the days drawn divided by 365 for a rough interest figure, then add fees. The line of credit page works an example.
Business Acquisition Loan Payment Calculator Use
The same arithmetic works for a business purchase loan: enter the loan amount after equity and any seller note, the rate and the term. Run the seller note separately and add the two payments. The acquisition guide shows the layers.
Dental Practice Loan Payment Calculator Use
For a dental practice, enter the price of a scanner, a chair or an operatory package, or the loan amount for a buy-in. The dental loan article explains what moves the rate and term a partner offers.
What the CNC Calculator Leaves Out
- Fees: origination or documentation fees add to the cost.
- Taxes, insurance and maintenance on the machine.
- Balloon payments or residuals on a lease.
- Prepayment terms.
- Whether payments start at signing or at delivery.
Read every offer for those items. The equipment financing page covers loans and leases, and the manufacturing page covers material and payroll alongside machines.
Use the result as a planning number. Run it at two or three rates and two terms, write down the highest payment, and check it against the shop's weakest month in the last year. If the business can carry the highest figure in its weakest month, the purchase is on solid ground before any partner looks at it.
